Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Volbeat, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy)

Working out of Hansen Studios in Denmark, Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen has produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered some of the biggest acts in alternative and heavy music including Amaranthe, Volbeat, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Pretty Maids, Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Primal Fear, and Evergrey. Hansen has also played guitar and provided vocals for the band Invocator since 1985.

Tell us about your current studio setup.

I have a studio space that is next to my house. I run Protools and use NS-10, JBL 4412 and an XTZ sub for monitoring. All of this is summed out on a Tube-Tech SSA summing box and through a Manley Massive Passive back into Protools.

Some go-to plugins are Soundtoys, Waves SSL, Brainworx, and iZotope.

What advice do you have for aspiring producers and mixers looking for their big break?

Be consistent and mix with passion. Habit over motivation is the best motto you can have!
