Josh Gannet (Wu-Tang Clan, Redman, Ghostface Killah)
Josh Gannet is a New Jersey-based producer, mixer, and recording engineer working across all genres. He is well known for his work with legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan on their album The Saga Continues, which was released to considerable critical acclaim. Gannet has also worked with artists such as Redman (2015’s Mudface), French Montana, and Method Man. More recently, he produced and mixed the album, Ghostface Killahs.
Tell us about your current studio setup.
I‘m currently running Pro Tools thru a Focusrite Redline, with Dynaudio BM15A’s running through a substantial vintage outboard gear collection and a full array of plugins. My most common go-to plugins are the McDSP EQ’s
Having mixed and produced so many songs over the past few years, how do you stay fresh and excited about making music every day?
I’m always learning and excited to hear something new. I still get just as geeked out when I hear incredible musicians or a clever bar as I did when I was a kid.
How do you typically approach a mix?
I have no ‘typical’, not even the order of the elements I add. I try to approach each mix as a blank canvas with the target being set by a combination of the client’s expectations and my creative influence. Big decisions happen whenever necessary!
